SlumDog Millionaire won several Golden Globe Awards. Indeed it was proud to watch my fella countrymen get awards and the movie that was picturized and directed in the India did quite well on the international arena. The reality came when I got to watch the movie. The director of the movie has been very successful in showing the India has a poor and pathetic country which is not the truth. Poverty exists in every country. Every country has its people. Then richer class and the poor and poorer classes. Slum exists everywhere. I live in America and I live in California. I contantly come across people who beg for a $1 or even a quarter. 'Spare a change' a very american and diplomatic way of begging. Sometimes I do spare a dollar depending on the age and circumstances of the beggar.
I pitty the Director of 'SlumDog Millionaire' for badly portraying India. India is one of software capitals of the nation. India has its richer parts like Taj Mahal, Mumbai, Bangalore where even visitors from different countries across the world pour in. Everytime any movie made in India shows up in International or America Flick award events if the poverty and gorie scenes of people struggling to win everyday bread is portrayed and screen played.
I hate the director of SlumDog Millionaire....personally. India has several interesting things to portray in a movie rather than focusing on its poverty.
There was one more director Meera Nair who tried to make awards and appear on the international movie area out of her movie 'Salaam Bombay'. She promised the kids of the movie to give them a good life. Not sure whether she did but she definitely made awards.
